Stephen Lyman & Claire Wang – Extension

INFO

Claire Wang is a university professor in New York City. She conducts research in public health and health policy, in particular childhood obesity and the prevention of chronic diseases. She went to medical school in Taiwan, but when she took a year off to study epidemiology in the U.S. she was hooked. She teaches a graduate course in analytic methods to evaluate benefits and risks in medical decision making. She believes in hard work, but at the same time letting the unknown take her to interesting places. Extension is her first feature length screenplay. Her only previous screenplay writing experience was her short script, Best Party Ever, which was a finalist for the Wildsound Script Contest. She also has a cat named Puppy. In her spare time, she draws comics of people around her.

Stephen Lyman is college professor in New York City. He conducts sports medicine research and teaches a course on clinical investigation. While this career feeds his analytic interests, he has turned to filmmaking as his creative outlet. He began writing screenplays in 2001 purely as a hobby. By 2004 he'd turned to the production side of things. In 2005 he produced the short film, Sunshine, which played at more than a dozen indigenous film festivals throughout North America and Europe before receiving distribution on PBS. Sunshine was also selected as part of a daily screening series at the Smithsonian Institute's National Museum of the American Indian. Coincidentally,
Stephen's short horror-comedy script The Delivery won a short script contest and was produced. These experiences convinced Stephen to try his hand at directing. His directorial debut, As a Cloud, premiered at the 2007 Coney Island Film Festival and also played at the Big Apple Film Festival - modest festival run for a zero budget silent short film made primarily with still photography montages. The Fairy Princess, his second directing effort, this time with a real budget and professional cast and crew, has played at more than 20 festivals in North America and Europe so far including the prestigious Palm Springs International ShortFest. Extension would represent his feature directorial debut.
